Dutch Traditions: Sinterklaas
The one and only Sinterklaas
sinterklaas..de echte! He rode on a white horse to visit the school behind my house with his helper Swart Pete
Sinterklaas en zijn pieten...I still get homesick for Holland...especially during the holidays.
The Netherlands are the no. 1 producer of salty liquorice candies called "(boerderij)drop" (farmer's liquorice). In Holland we all like some kind of 'drop', but most foreigners think they taste awful. ;-) #greetingsfromnl
Dutch stamppot boerenkool met rookworst ('mash pot', potatoes mashed with kale and served with smoked sausage)
Typically Dutch: is to eat ‘drop’, best translated in licorice. It’s sweet or salt sticky candy the Dutch just luuve to eat. What about you? Any favourite kind?
Kroketten...another Dutch food I could eat myself very fat on! These are a meat treat that are deep fried and the mustard is heavenly!
Dutch food - Hutspot (mashed potatoes with onions and carrots)
Sinterklaas - the 5th of December
