Angela Mombers - Walking Through History
Skirt (detail) of a Beetle Wing dress 1865-1875. The accompanying underskirt/petticoat is lost. The 5 piece Beetle Wing dress is owned by the "Oudheidkamer Enschede" (Netherlands) and is preserved at the museumdepot of Museum TwentseWelle, Enschede (Netherlands). I work as Volunteer textielconservation at museum TwentseWelle and this dress is one of my favorites.
Walking Through History - with Jasper and Angela
Walking Through History: Update on the beetle wing embroidered reticule : all wings are clipped. After this I use a seam ripper to make small holes. This needs to be done very carefully, I broke about 4 or 5 wings. I started hand stitching the wings with metallic yarn. I love it already, it's so beautiful! Beetle wings are really small miracles! Made by Angela Mombers.
