Long Branch Saloon
In 1878 Dodge City’s population was less than 1000, yet the town sported 16 saloons. Most renowned of these was the Long Branch Saloon. Singing, dancing and women were not allowed north of the railroad tracks where the Long Branch was located. Entertainment was provided by owner Chalkley Beeson’s five piece orchestra, which later evolved into the famous Dodge City Cowboy Band.
