From my bio/invert student pal Theo: "Another Dragonfly naiad." Oh yes. Find me better design than this.

Dragonfly Nymph

The discarded case of a Southern Hawker dragonfly nymph, tidied up a bit in PhotoShop. Stacked focus of, as I recall, some 30 frames. Nikon Micro Nifkkor and 100mm extension.

Even common things can be amazing if you really look, like kids do.

Diptera - Empididae - Empis pennipes. My second stack with the JML 21/3.5 lens, now @ 12:1 lifesize (on the FF sensor). I reached this magnification with a 220 mm bellows between the camera body and the lens. 51 single photos (0,02 mm increments) were stacked in Zerene (PMax). Image is cropped from 4368px to 4036px in length removing the small black edges which are present at this length of bellows. View it larger!

Globe-eyed weevil at 20x (focus stack)

Lignyodes suturatus (ID: Attila Podlussány) Focus stack of a 3,5mm long dead weevil (found in my car). 130 shots were taken with the Nikon BD Plan 20x microscope objective at nominal 20x magnification, then stacked in Zerene Stacker (PMax). View larger!

Because the retina is the darkest part of the eye, you can sometimes look into the eye of a jumping spider and see it changing color as it moves to follow your actions. Description from cirrusimage.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images
