GALVANIZED PLANTERS

We have a large screened-in front porch that is only used in the summer. We always come in through the back door. Even the UPS guy and the repairmen know to go around back. But the space is too lovely not to decorate for Christmas. The green and red of the branches from the backyard and the berries from across the road frame the gray and white of my vintage finds nicely. Isn't it lovely? If the weather were a little nicer, I would sit out there all day.

Toen ik een paar weken geleden in het tuincentrum was en mooie witte druifjes zag staan, besloot ik er een paar te kopen. Eenmaal thuis kwamen ze buiten onder het afdakje te staan. Het was natuurlijk de bedoeling om de witte druifjes snel in een pot te zetten, maar ik vergeet dat nog wel eens en ook deze keer was dat het geval. Ik heb echt geluk gehad dat het witte druifje zo weinig nodig heeft, want ze staan er nog prima bij. Inmiddels overigens wel in een paar zinken potjes en op de grijze…

Tragically, most of this zinnia's sister seeds died off in the Aphid Outbreak of 2008. But everytime I glance over at these babies, I'm SO excited that there were 6 out of thirty that survived! Those hearty little suckers... A little less than half of my sweet peas have already bloomed and gone to seed - but just tonight, I was over at Leigh's house, and hers were ABSOLUTELY still beautifully in bloom. I think there's a balance somewhere between drowning in sunshine and starving for light…
