Deepsea Divers by AWCo

Building a waterproof watch was one of the biggest challenges in the history of watchmaking. Love’em or hate’em, divers are more popular than ever nowadays.

Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 ‘Iconic’
Don’t you just love a faded bezel insert? This one has turned a lovely blue-ish grey, which gives such great character to an already amazing vintage Sub. The 1680 was launched in the late sixties, to run alongside the 5513. In contrast to the 5513, the 1680 was the first Submariner to feature the now famous date with cyclops. #rolexsubmariner #vintagesubmariner #rolex1680 #amsterdamwatchcompany
Close-up Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513
The Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 was in production from 1962 all the way up until 1989. It has, during those years, taken on many different faces. It saw small variations, such as switching from “meters” first to “feet” first in its depth rating description. But it has also undergone some major shapeshifts, such as we see on the famous “Explorer dial” variant.

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms FF96
The first ‘professional’ divers watch was without a doubt the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. To those who think there’s a discussion on this topic; you’re wrong. Yes, Rolex had the first waterproof watch case, and yes, Omega introduced the waterproof Marine watch in 1932, but those weren’t real professional divers watches. The Fifty Fathoms was the first watch to have a rotating bezel with a timing function so professional divers would know how much time underwater they had left.
The Submariner that we offer you here is an early 14060, so with a Tritium dial. The robustness is dripping from it, a real diver with a vintage beating heart🧡 #rolexsubmariner #14060 #vintagerolex #submariner14060 #tritiumdial #amsterdamwatchcompany

IWC Aquatimer Ref. 816
The first traces of an IWC divers watch date back to only 1967 with their first #812 Aquatimer, but this watch was directly competing with the best divers watches out there with an astonishing waterproofness to 200m. Their upgraded version of the first Aquatimer, the 816, was even better. Waterproof up to 300m. Better than a Rolex Submariner from the same year… #amsterdamwatchcompany #vintageiwc #aquatimer #iwc816 #vintagediverwatch #vintagedivers
