Painting by Anne - 2015 - Magnolias in Westerpark - Work in progress
Painting by Anne - 1984 - Snackbar Rembrandt was (is?) a shop on the Haarlemmerstraat in Amsterdam. This is a visual interpretation of what I saw one day while biking past the window.
Painting by Anne - 2015 - In the beginning of the 60s we moved from Amsterdam to a small rural village. Aside from the medieval castle, the park, the harbour and a few 16th century buildings the village consisted of farmhouses and a few blocks of functional and sober post WWII houses. As a kid I was easily and heavily influenced by materials, smells; the overall character of buldings. 'Sick building syndrome' before the word was invented. The street, grandma, the rain. Welcome to 1962.
Painting by Anne - 2015 - 1963 A drumband is marching through the normally so quiet mainstreet. Mam holds me on her arm, but the big drums hurt my tummy. I want to go home, because I don't like the feeling. Away from the crowd of people who seem to like all of it. The drums, the singing, the noise, the flags and flowers.
