Aging wood in 9 steps. This works great, except dont use stainless steel wool. It can create a greyish color to a very dark red hue depending on how much vingear you use and how long you let the mixture sit.
Annie Sloan's Frottage: Paint one coat of the first shade, then while the second coat of the next colour is wet, take sheets of crinkled newspaper and rub it all over and then pull it off. The paper pulls off some of the paint revealing the first layer.
For my screen door: peeling and/or weathered paint finish - french technique called frottage - create a perfectly aged painted finish on a new door - it will look fabulous and oh so very much like an old door:)
