Buchwalds opened its New York City location after leaving the boardwalk in Atlantic City. Buchwalds then opened another store on Lincoln Road in 1940. The New York location eventually closed but Lincoln Road continued until Buchwalds final move to the Seybold Building.

Buchwald’s 1st location was on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. The gentleman standing in the middle is Lou Costello and would later be known for his partnership in Abbott & Costello. In the left corner is Joseph Buchwald because his store was located next to the Burlesque show.
