Red earthenware, stamped with a design of the Royal Arms (three lions rampant guardant) inlaid with white slip. Originally designed for the fireplace in the prince's chamber, Palace of Westminster but this example was also laid in the floor of the House of Commons. England, Minton & Co, designed by Pugin, 1847, made 1850.. Museum Number C.150-1982.

This beautiful historical and scare reclaimed blue tile is from the late 19th Century. It was made to celebrate the opening of a new factory in Zanesville, Ohio, by the American Encaustic Tiling Company. The tile illustrates a classical theme along with the inscription " DEDICATION: A. E. TILE WORKS ZANESVILLE O APRIL 19, 1892". The back is signed with marks in raised letters, see images. The tile measures a little over 4" X 4" and is extremely well preserved. The surface shows the…
