Owned by a family of winemakers from the Veneto, and set in a historic walled vineyard on Mazzorbo Island, Venissa has had a grape start in life. Vines still flourish today; this is one of the few places in the world where you can try the rare and ancient dorona di Venezia grape variety, rescued from the brink of oblivion by the team behind the hotel.

La Ghiaia is set within its own organic, 5,5 acres of vineyards, planted with Vermentino, Sangiovese, Merlot, Vermentino Nero Massaretta, Malvasia and Bianca Albarola grapes. There are also grapes that “scent of sea”: Vermentino Atys, the Red Undicinodi and selection Vermentino Itha used for high quality DOC Colli di Luni wines. The estate also produces extra virgin olive oil and an aquavitae di vino bianca.
