Charles Lindbergh (1902-1974) was an American pilot and the first man to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.Lindbergh's solo transatlantic flight in 1927 made him one of America's early celebrity heroes. He received a New York ticker-tape parade, and newspapers breathlessly covered his every move. I chose this photo because it shows his success as a pilot.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh. She was an author, poet, aviator, and wife of Charles Lindbergh, and her essay that became the book "The Gift from the Sea" is one of my favorites. What an interesting, adventurous, insightful woman.
