Druivenbier

Legend tells of a Belgian brewer who blended the gentle sweet snap of grape with the robust sensuousness of a young ale. Big Rock has captured that golden moment of eureka with its exciting new Druivenbier – Flemish for ‘grape beer’. Glistening Pinot Gris grapes have been introduced to a sophisticated blend of three of Big Rock’s finest malts. This is a true Druivenbier – rarely seen in North America, and uncompromisingly elegant to the last puckish bubble.

In this 2014 collaboration, Therapy Vineyards offered up its best Pinot Gris grapes and Paul paired them with three Big Rock malts and Hallertau hops. The Big Rock difference in our 2014 offering comes from the pure honey added to this brew, sourced from our own bees at the brewery. The Light malt flavours with melon, subtle pear and honey, pour a deep golden yellow. Medium carbonation, mildly sweet… perfect to enjoy with friends and family over the holidays and on into the new year.

Lovely Saint Winefride from the Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project... from the site: "St Winefride lived in post-Roman Wales from 600 to 660 A.D. She was charming and intelligent, and decided to become a nun. Unfortunately, this news went down poorly with her suitor, Caradoc, who hacked off her head. Luckily, her Uncle Beuno was able to perform the miracle of reattaching it and she recovered fully..."

That first sip of cold beer on a hot day is one of the purest moments of summer. To craft that moment in to the most refreshing, perfect punch, Brewmaster Paul Gautreau set his sights on Belgium's centuries-old tradition of fine fruit beers. Starting with imported Belgian yeast and at carefully-timed points throughout the fermentation process, Paul blended dark sweet cherries, lively tart cherries and succulent raspberries, creating a superb brew with a delicate mouthfeel and medium…

A classic ale with a golden amber colour, dry-hopped to lend a distinctive character. Spicy, warm, slightly smoky. Settles the dust on a warm prairie evening.
