This image was taken during an early morning photo shoot near Jackson Hole Wyoming. The intent was to capture the beautiful mule deer buck in the context of its home and natural setting near the Gros Ventre River. The three layers in the image including the grassy river basin buried in fallen snow, the aspens covered in hoarfrost and the spruce trees sprinkled with ice made for a compelling composition.
A lone red mangrove tree stands out in the shallow waters of Biscayne Bay, near Miami, Florida. Seagrasses provide an interesting texture to the foreground as the clouds and their reflections playfully surround the tree.
