April 28: First day of the Floralia in the Roman Empire. Floralia celebrates the goddess Flora, and was marked by nude dancing, theatrical performances, circus events, and public feasting and drinking. Colorful garments were worn, and a ceremonial release of live hares and goats was made. Sex workers were also hugely involved in this six-day festival. (Featured: see Tiepolo's interpretation of this holiday!) Birthday of Ann-Margret, Harper Lee, Penelope Cruz, Kim Gordon, and Elisabeth Rohm.
