Submarine US Navy...I could put this in "The Nav" but figured I'd go here...there's nothing like an Unrep / Vertrep at sea, especially sub style, with a SH-46 helo. Ah...Flight Quarters!

This photo from 1943 shows the mass production of U-boot on a german shipyard. For minimizing the damage caused by aerial attacks, the parts of these submarines were produced in separated and distant places, to be later transported to the shipyards where the submarines could be then quickly assembled and equipped.

Submarine in Trouble _ Soviet missile sub Fubar-ed probably one with a hot engine room that had to be abandoned and scuttled. Soviet subs were notorious for radiation exposure of the crew, in the best of times and on several occasions accidents led the crews to abandon them shortly before they sank. looks like a cool photo shop image..........

The U-302 was a Type VIIC U-boat of the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. The submarine was laid down on 2 April 1941 at the Flender Werke yard at Lübeck as 'werk' 302, launched on 25 April 1942 and commissioned on 16 June under the command of Kapitänleutnant Herbert Sackel. During her career, the U-boat sailed on eight combat patrols, sinking three ships, before she was sunk in April 1944 in mid-Atlantic by a British frigate. She was a member of 10 wolfpacks.
