Cantillon Rose de GambrinusThis gorgeous beer (with an equally scandalous label — from Cantillon, one of Belgium's best and most respected breweries, will dispel any thought you have about fruit-based beers being syrupy-sweet or, dare I say, "girlie." When fresh, the crisp, tart, vitamin C-loaded raspberry flavors shine. With a few years of age, the sour notes from this wild-fermented lambic become more pronounced, yielding an even more brilliant concoction.

Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus, Kriek certainly already existed in the beginning of the century. It is, however, more difficult to determine when the Framboise-Lambic appeared in the Brussels pubs.

The process to make this beer is identical to the one to make Kriek. When young, the Rosé de Gambrinus will still present its full fruity taste. Later on, the lambic taste will become dominant at the expense of the fruit taste. Very livly reddish orange and cloudy. Unbelievable fresh rasberries dominates the nose but takes a back seat to the Cantillon sourness. Lemon grass, barnyard, some kind of wood, and a ton of carbonation. Less complex than the Gran Cru.
