Colt Model 1855 Revolving Rifle - This firearm was offered in both smoothbore and rifled formats. This .56 caliber five-shot carbine was one of about 4,400 made between 1856 to 1864. Many of these repeaters were used by cavalry troopers, although with the possibility of multiple chamber discharges – other guns were often preferred. It's unclear whether this piece actually saw service during the Am. Civil War, but today you can see it on display at the NRA National Sporting Arms Museum.
