Neil Degrasse Tyson is een Amerikaanse astrofysicus en wetenschapscommunicator. Hij houdt zich onder meer bezig met stervorming, exploderende sterren, dwergstelsels en de structuur van de Melkweg. Dit doet hij met behulp van informatie van de Hubble Ruimtetelescoop en telescopen in Californië, New Mexico, Arizona en in het Chileense Andesgebergte.

Magellanic Cloud Survey view of the Tarantula Nebula | The leader of the survey team, Maria-Rosa Cioni (University of Hertfordshire, UK) explains: "This view is of one of the most important regions of star formation in the local Universe, the spectacular 30 Doradus star-forming region, also called the Tarantula Nebula. At its core is a large cluster of stars called RMC 136, in which some of the most massive stars known are located."

#NGC2841Galaxy without star formation | Notable is the absence of the pink color of emission nebulae, indicative of the new birth of new stars. It is likely that radiation and supersonic winds of, hot burning, super stars, young and blue clean the remaining gas, which would be pink, and therefore ceased further star formation in the regions in which they were born. NGC 2841 currently has a star formation rate relatively low compared to other spirals that are heated with emission nebulae.

NGC 602 in the Flying Lizard Nebula ~ Near the outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy some 200 thousand light-years distant, lies 5 million year young star cluster NGC 602. Surrounded by natal gas and dust, the cluster itself is about 200 light-years in diameter.
