Re-growing Lettuce  It’s not a hard concept.  Stick the crown end in water after you've cut off all the lettuce.  I figured I ‘d give it a shot and I have to say, so far I have been amazed.  We’ll see what happens going forward.

How to Regrow Roots in One Week. Green onions worked great, I just nip off what I need for a recipe, grows back in a couple days. Romaine lettuce didn't work. Initially I had new growth in the center, but it never went anywhere and ended up turning brown even after changing the water. Will try again.

The best and most amazing thing about lettuce, besides eating it, is that if the stump is intact it will regenerate and regrow new shoots for a second harvest. Above is a photograph of three romaine “stumps” in various levels of regrowth. All I did was put each stump in a half inch of water, check the level daily, and wait for tender new growth.
