Cerridwen, the Celtic goddess of inspiration, witchcraft, wisdom & the cauldron. There’s a tale behind her magical cauldron that is said to be lost in Avalon, which *coincidentally* is where Glastonbury is, where the Holy Grail is supposedly lost.
Mullein - Protection from nightmares & sorcery, courage, cursing, and invoking spirits. Place beneath pillow or use in dream pillow to guard against nightmares. Carry to instill courage and help attract love from the opposite sex. Use in place of graveyard dust in spells. Wear to keep wild animals at bay in unfamiliar areas. Burn to banish bad influences and bring an immediate halt to bad habits.
Samhain bonfires were used in divination rituals. In the late 18th century, in Ochtertyre, a ring of stones was laid round the fire to represent each person. Everyone then ran round it with a torch, "exulting". In the morning, the stones were examined and if any was mislaid it was said that the person for whom it was set would not live out the year. A similar custom was observed in north Wales and in Brittany.
