WORLD WONDERS ☪ :: NGC 3190 ~ The Predator: is a spiral galaxy with tightly wound arms and lying in the constellation Leo. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1784. In 2002 two supernovae were observed in the galaxy. A Brazilian amateur astronomer Paulo Cacella detected one supernova in the southeastern part in March 2002 (SN 2002bo), and then an Italian team, while studying the first one, detected a second supernova (SN 2002cv) on the other side two months later.

The Lagoon Nebula #8 of Charles Messier’s “not a comet” list, the Lagoon Nebula is a cloud of ionized hydrogen estimated to be 4000-6000 light years from earth. It can be seen with the naked eye as a gray/green patch in the constellation of Sagittarius. The center or core is illuminated by a hot, massive bluish star with an output one million times that of our own sun, most of which is ultraviolet

Dynamic Sun. This photo was among the first images taken by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly on NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory satellite. "When we first started getting data, after years of work on building the SDO instruments and spacecraft, launching SDO, and early ops, we took our first images and this is what we saw with AIA, [SDO's Atmospheric Imaging Assembly]," said SDO deputy project scientist Phillip Chamberlin. "Absolutely amazing."
