Gek op knoflook? Dan is dit je nieuwe favoriete recept. Kippenbouten met veertig tenen knoflook – en toch val je niet flauw van de geur, want de knoflook gaart in de oven tot hij zacht en romig is. Het recept is van Nigella Lawson uit haar kookboek Keuken, en het is een klein beetje aangepast in de loop der tijd.

Thaise larb

Larb is een geweldige combinatie van salade met gehakt vlees met een zoutig zure dressing. Ik at deze flink gekruide vleessalade voor het eerst in Thailand en was meteen verkocht. Het vlees, in dit recept varkensvlees, maar het kan ook lamsvlees, kip of vis zijn, wordt in heel kleine stukjes gehakt en vervolgens royaal gekruid. Je kunt ijsbergsla gebruiken als je geen romainesla kunt vinden.

Superkrokant buikspek

Niemand, en dan bedoel ik ook echt niemand, maakt krokant buikspek zoals de Chinezen. Dit gerecht vereist wat planning, maar het eindresultaat is absoluut de moeite waard. Serveer met een pot suiker om bij dit gerecht in plaats van ‘Mmm, lekker’, ‘O mijn god, dit is de hemel!’ te horen.
