"Don't leave me" Ella whispered, sobbing into my shoulder. She just found out that her parents are getting a divorce. "Never, darling" I whisper back to her soothingly. I rub her back the way she always loved. She squeezes me tight and I squeeze her back. I pull away and say, "you need to sleep, it's almost 2 am." "I can't" she says through her tears.
