Chateau de Fontainebleau - La Bibliothèque de Napoléon Chateau de Fontainebleau - La Bibliothèque de Napoléon. The library was built in 1808 in the old games room apartments of Louis XVI, a large part of the decor dating from 1786 is still in place (wood and top-of-door painter Sauvage). The library reserved for the exclusive use of Napoleon was one of the places where he loved to retire to work.
