Antique hats

A wide straw hat was not only stylish, but kept the sun from the face. Worn low over the face like this, it's quite coquettish, too - even if the angle makes it a bit hard to see the gentleman. This hat from the 1760s, woven of straw, is embroidered with colored straw flowers. Victoria & Albert Museum.
