These basement stairs needed a serious safety upgrade 😬 The old staircase did not meet construction code, and was so steep it caused a dangerous fall. The staircase covered a basement bar, limiting the space. There were also major asbestos concerns. During the extensive design process, the homeowners decided to remove the basement bar to accommodate a safer staircase. This meant working to find correct overhead clearance and moving the door at the bottom of the stairs.
