Here is the first flower of native Fairy Lantern (Calochortus albus, Liliaceae) that I've seen this year growing in the woodland along our road. It wasn't here yesterday, and here it is today. They are a kind of upside-down Mariposa Lily. They are a "tender trap" for pollinators - easy for insects to crawl into, but hard to get out past those hairs without carrying a load of pollen to pass on to other flowers. They are very elegant, one of my favorite flowers. (San Marcos Pass, 1 May 2018)
