Kara Bowman on Instagram: "DO YOU SUFFER FROM HYDRANGEA ENVY?😅

I used to also 😂 …But not anymore! Now, I have 8 different hydrangea varieties in our yard and they are THRIVING! See how below… and drop any questions in the comments!

TIPS FOR BIG, FULL HYDRANGEAS:
1. SELECT the types of hydrangeas that are appropriate for your zoning, and make sure to pay attention to if they are full sun or not. Plant them in the appropriate location that will help them GROW! For example: My Limelights do AMAZING in full sun, but my Annabelles do not.

2. PLANT your hydrangeas in the spring or fall, and make sure they get a lot of water until they are mature! And in the summer, even when they are mature… they need a lot of water!😄

3. FERTILIZE at least once in the spring and once mid-summer.

4. PRUNE Cut Garden, Types Of Hydrangeas, Hydrangea Varieties, Million Dollar Baby, Envy Me, Hydrangea, Pay Attention, Our Home, Yard

Oakleaf hydrangeas! This particular one is Ruby Slippers, which is a dwarf variety! The foliage and flowers on these are absolutely beautiful, and mine have had incredible growth over the last year since they were planted despite giving them hardly any attention! These will tolerate HEAT, drought, and poor soil, as long as it is well-drained!

The specifics:
Flowering Date is Early to midsummer (flowers will turn burgundy and last until late summer!)
Height 36 - 48 inches
Hardiness Zone 5-9
Sun Exposure Full Sun, Partial Shade
Prune after flowering to prevent cutting off new blooms!

Laura Lombardi | Weekend Gardener on Instagram: "Can you guess which type of hydrangea is best for your full sun space? 👀 ☀️

I know hydrangeas have a reputation for being “shade plants” but there’s actually a variety for almost any type of sun you get on your property. ⛅️☀️

One mistake I see beginner gardeners making all the time is assuming that all hydrangeas can be treated equally. 🌸

Not the case! ⚠️

Some varieties actually need more sun to bloom, while others prefer shade. ☀️

Here’s your cheatsheet to picking the right hydrangea for the amount of sun on your property (you’re going to want to SAVE this!) ⬇️

Best for full sun areas:
🌸 Panicle hydrangeas! (the most sun tolerant type). Common varieties include limelights, fire light, pinky winky, bobo and quick fire.

Skye Hamilton • Home & Garden • Hydrangea Queen on Instagram: "In my opinion, the very best thing about using smooth hydrangeas in a front landscape, is the ability to prune them back so much in the winter. Smooth hydrangeas can take the hardest prune of any variety. I cut mine to between 15 -18 inches after we reach full dormancy ( consistently under 32° at night). Because I’ve planted wintergem boxwoods in front of them, they are camouflaged during the winter. I have @provenwinners Incrediballs across my front porch, but there are other smooth varieties to choose from. They can take full sun in zones 6a and lower, but need late afternoon and evening shade in 6b and higher. #hydrangeaqueen #ShareYourGarden #MyGardenThisMonth #HomeAndGarden #HomeAndGardenIG #Garden.ig #MyGardenToday #Gard Boxwood Hedge With Hydrangea, White Farmhouse With Hydrangeas, Raised Hydrangea Bed, Front Landscaping Hydrangea, Split Rail Fence Hydrangeas, Boxwood Trees Landscaping, Knockout Roses And Hydrangeas, Front Porch Hydrangea Landscaping, Front Of House Landscape Ideas Hydrangea
