This was our solution since the cabinets do not go up to the ceiling and there's no wall there. Hi everyone, So I’m Remodling my home and I want to know if this was done correctly, I personally think that the straight crown molding should be flush and even with the cabinets. Am I wrong?

In cabinetry design, one of the most common design details added is crown molding that is mounted to the top of kitchen or bathroom cabinets.

Before AFTER When we first moved into our home we had the builders add a drywall soffit above all the cabinetry with plans that we would one day add crown and other trim work to it. While we had the dining room finish work done we had them complete the kitchen soffit as well.
