Mimosa pudica (from Latin: pudica “shy, bashful or shrinking”; also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, action plant, touch-me-not, shameplant) is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant of the pea/legume family Fabaceae. (Wikipedia) In the Philippines, we call these as Makahiya which is taken from the word “hiya” meaning shy. I loved playing with these when I was young. I’d touch them and watch them close and in a while they open slowly again. Took this photo about a month ago.
