Description I did this for , and because I thought Mary Tudor needed a picture where she was young and cute, as opposed to where she's the usual stereotypical heavy. It's loosely inspired by the Carolyn Meyer novel, "Mary, Bloody Mary," the first book in the Young Royals series. Basically I had this image in my head, and I had to get it down in paint before I lost interest in doing it. This portrait derives from the work of Hans Eworth who worked as a portrait and history painter. He came from a family of painters based in Antwerp and came to England in about 1545. His early English portraits are in a typically Dutch style but in England he was influenced by both Holbein and Mor and his later works foreshadow the Elizabethan ''costume piece''.
