Queen Elizabeth II wore this evening dress of duchesse satin and lace during her state visit to the Netherlands in 1958. The gown, with its one-shouldered bodice and full crinoline skirt, embroidered with twinkly sequins, diamantes, and beads, was designed by Sir Norman Hartnell, one of the Queen's favorite British fashion designers.
