a card made with pink and white paper

I found a great use for scraps....make them into a quilt block to be used on a card or scrapbook page! The template for these cards is on the Scrapedia website. In order to make the quilt block the "main attraction" I kept the rest of the card fairly simple. Some faux stitching with Sharpie markers, and a simple Word Border Stamp (Hero Arts) completes the card. I'll have the horizontal version of these same colors for your tomorrow. My favorite thing about these cards is how 3D the quilt…

a close up of a card with the words love you on it and a heart

Hey, it's time for another Valentine! And, guess what! For a change, I made a paper quilted card! Yeah, I know. I never do that, do I? Anyway, I thought a loving Valentine quilt would be cute and cozy. Not a really tough design, but I do like how it turned out. I used the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack on page 17 of the Occasions Catalog for my quilt strips. The strips are 1/4" wide. And the center square is made with the 3/4" Square Punch. The finished card doesn't have a whole…

a blue and white quilted square on top of a wooden table

I have done a fair number of quilted cards. There had once been a gallery associated with a "Technique Lover's" challenge. I will now upload a few of my patterns to this gallery. I do mine a wee bit differently. I grid out a piece of paper in one inch grids. I draw the straight pattern lines on it. I apply the two sided tape to the paper and lay the paper carefully down on the paper. I start from the center out and then trim edges at the end. I've done this design before - as I have…

a happy birthday card with a flower on the front, and an image of a quilted background

The first challenge of the month over at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is "Spring Forward." To me spring means flowers and more color in the garden, particularly pinks and yellows. It also means the birthday of a dear friend and Godmother to my daughter. Phyllis loves to quilt, so it was only natural for me to think of her when I saw this card by Shelly Nemitz. I used the Close to My Heart paper pack, Clementine, and embellished with layered flowers from the Color Ready Garden Wooden Shapes set…

a close up of a card on a table

I have two quilt cards I made for the Friday Unity Friends with Flair. I love playing with pieces of paper, making designs and shapes with them, and this is based on an Ohio Star quilt pattern. I used papers from the LilyBeeDesigns Double Dutch paper pad for this card. I punched 4 - 1" squares of each pattern and then cut each on the diagonal which gave me 8 of each color, then simply pieced them together to form a star. For the center I used a MS button punch, and cut a small circle of dsp…

the happy birthday card is made with stamping and patterned paper, which includes different designs

Faux quilt cards are a great way to showcase beautiful Designer Series Papers (DSPs). For these cards, I mostly used Lovely Linen. This first one was inspired by Bobby of Bits & Pieces Design Blog. To make it easier to line up the DSP blocks, I cut a Basic White cardstock panel that was slightly smaller than the cardbase and started by aligning the Designer Series Paper patterns to it at the corners first, before filling in the remaining spaces. Then, the entire panel was adhered to the…
