a close up of a card with the words love you on it and a heart

Hey, it's time for another Valentine! And, guess what! For a change, I made a paper quilted card! Yeah, I know. I never do that, do I? Anyway, I thought a loving Valentine quilt would be cute and cozy. Not a really tough design, but I do like how it turned out. I used the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack on page 17 of the Occasions Catalog for my quilt strips. The strips are 1/4" wide. And the center square is made with the 3/4" Square Punch. The finished card doesn't have a whole…

a close up of a card on a doily with a pink rose and ribbon

Today's Free 4 All challenge was to color block on our project. I decided to create a little paper quilt with some of my Stella & Rose scraps from My Mind's Eye. After laying them all out and adhering them to my cardstock base, I paper pierced around every single square. I then used an archival pen to make a faux zig zag stitch around the squares. I used several distress inks to ink up the edges of all of the papers. I used a nestie to die cut the frame and the sentiment is from Unity…

a close up of a small card with a flower on the front and bottom corner

I cut a 12cm square of printer paper & found the centre by drawing lines diagonal to diagonal. Using temporary adhesive I stuck a 3cm square of card in the centre. I cut 4 strips of paper 4.5cm long by 1.5cm wide. The edges were sponged with brown ink to give them definition. They were stuck around the centre, making sure the edges lined up by using a ruler as shown. The centre square was then removed so I could use a brayer to ensure everything was adhered properly. The next strips were…

a card with the words quilty hugs written on it and a photo of a window

Spellbinders and Becca Feeken are launching a new collection called Home Sweet Quilt! I was so excited to see this, as I quilted for many years before I became a cardmaker. One of the die sets is called Log Cabin and Flower Mini Quilts, and I have 3 cards using that set today. I also used Becca's new Orange Peel Quilt embossing folder and some sentiments from the Quilty Hugs clear stamp set, both of which are included in her collection. For all of these designs, I started by cutting out the…

I wanted to make a set of cards to include with my Mum's birthday present so pulled out one of the dies from WPlus9's Quilt Cuts 2 set. Die (WPlus9) - Quilt Cuts 2, Stamps (Hero Arts) - Dolls, Everyday Sayings and It's Your Day, Paper (Studio Calico) - Snippets Having dabbled in quilting in the past, I just LOVE this set and am looking forward to making lots more blocks in the future, using fabrics as well as paper. It will be a perfect way of using up some of my mountain of scraps. Die…

a red and white card with a bow on it's side, sitting on top of a wooden table

I have done a fair number of quilted cards. There had once been a gallery associated with a "Technique Lover's" challenge. I will now upload a few of my patterns to this gallery. I do mine a wee bit differently. I grid out a piece of paper in one inch grids. I draw the straight pattern lines on it. I apply the two sided tape to the paper and lay the paper carefully down on the paper. I start from the center out and then trim edges at the end.
