Montgomery, Alabama. December 1, 1955. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat for a white man and was arrested. Civil Rights leaders rallied around this incident and a 381 day boycott of the city bus system ensued. After a year of protest, legal action, fire-bombs and peaceful demonstration, segregation on Montgomery's busses stopped, marking a tremendous victory for repressed African Americans.
