I made this Tiki-style awning for my daughter's school classroom door. ( We did her room in a beach theme. ). Thank goodness for industrial-strength tape! After I took this pic she found a bamboo frame for the door sign

To match our "Around the World" theme, my classroom door was inspired by tiki-huts, surf shops, and the beach! The overhead structure was made from cardboard and covered with strips of manila paper!
