A very important California gold quartz presentation cane with engraved scenes. The large solid gold knob handle is 2 1/4" high and 1 3/4" at its widest. Inlaid on the top is a 1 1/8" polished and faceted gold quartz stone with lots of polished gold flecks in the matrix. 1860 presentation is inscribed on the side panels: "S. C. Fogus to A. C. Wilgus / California." (Shelton C. Fogus was one of the original pioneers who crossed the Plains by covered wagon and arrived in California in 1849.
