This December I finally had the pleasure of attending our first ever Patagonia equestrian meet-up with Hooves. I was with two lovely horse riders from Spain, we were hosted by one of the most welcoming families I’ve ever met, and got to ride horses through the mountains of Patagonia for a whole week. We know as Christians, on an intellectual level, that we have idols—be it family, food, football or whatever. But to see the allure of idolatry can be hard for those of us in the Western world. That’s why I appreciate the points laid out by Doug Stuart in his Exodus commentary (450-54).
