In July 2017, Joyita Mondal was appointed as a judge on a Lok Adalat (a type of civil court) in West Bengal, India, making her the first transgender person to serve in such a role in that country. In 1903 it was heralded as "the most popular musical show in London". George W. Walker was also husband to Vaudeville sensation Aida Overton Walker, when he became too ill to perform she often wore his White Tie costume, playing his role + her own.
