This solitary boy is sitting on the plinth of the Market Cross in Cong, County Mayo. The inscription on the cross, now faded, is written in old Irish and asks the viewer to pray for previous abbots of the monastery. Quiet Man Bridge, County Galway
The Quiet Man Bridge is so named because it was featured in the film "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, first out in 1952. There is a photo of John Wayne on a sign post by the bridge. The film is regarded as one of the top 100 films ever made. Americans and Japanese tourists by the busload stop to photograph it.
