Met de langzaam uitgesproken toverspreuk ‘Salmay, Dalmay, Adonay‘ probeert hij te vliegen, maar zelfs met de hulp van zijn pad Touchwood wil dit maar niet lukken. Zijn verbazing over moderne dingen als de elektrische lamp (‘de in een glas gevangen zon’) en de telefoon (‘een sprekend bot’) werkt op de lachspieren.
