Despite the fact I haven't blogged since October, we have continued with our Expedition Earth curriculum, learning about different countries around the world. We have studied Asia, Europe, North America, and the Poles. This week we began studying South America by studying Brazil and along the way we learned about the Amazon Rainforest. South African rand
South Africa uses the Rand as currency (1 dollar US ≈ 8.2 Rand). It was introduced on 14 February 1961, the same year the Republic of South Africa was formed. The Rand was created as a move away from the colonial denominations of pounds, shillings and pence.
