Antony Gormley OBE, RA (b 1950) is a British sculptor. Angel of the North is a contemporary sculpture, which is located in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. It is a steel sculpture of an angel, 20 metres tall, with wings measuring 54 metres across.

The sculptures serve as a reminder for beach-goers to recycle plastic bottles in order to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our oceans.

Born in 1958 in Bogotá, Colombia, Salcedo’s installations express the silenced lives of the marginalized. She is particularly interested in the gap between the powerful and the powerless, and in victims of violence and forced migration. “I am a Third World artist,” says Salcedo. Her artwork emerges from that perspective.
