Too much time is spent on Instragram, moments snatched here and there. Enabling me to dream of much inspiration, aspiration --but in reality not enough time or expertise! However I instantly was taken by the quilt below. Cath's new nephew is framed most beautifully on this masterpiece. @cathmosely on Instagram made a gorgeous, vivid and bright rainbow baby heart quilt with a Kona Solids Roll Up / Jelly Roll. I scoured the net to find such a vivid Jelly Roll, only to be put off by the brutal…

A rainbow quilt made for the Orlando VA Hospital as part of the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild charity project for 2011. Finished size was about 50x60. I made up the pattern myself based on the Line Art quilt from Punk Chalk fabrics. Most everything was sourced out of fabric in my stash.

I used a stack and wack method to make the blocks, stacking two or three at a time, and randomly paired the colors (I threw them into a paper bag and pulled them out and stuck 'em together). I realized too late I was cutting most of my curves the same direction, but I don't mind it as much now. This isn't very big (the squares, unfinished, are…
Your place to buy and sell all things handmade
Whether this quilt makes you think of rainbows, crayons, a color wheel or a paint box, it will surely bring a smile and brighten even the cloudiest days! Thinking 'outside the box' is always a goal of mine when designing quilts. This quilt became just that, along with a huge burst of 'look at me' color! The name says it all: 'OUTSIDE THE PAINT BOX'! I wanted a bright color combination and drew inspiration from rainbows… except I amped up the color a degree or two! I started by piecing…
