Downhill and dual slalom racers will hit Beech Mountain Resort for the 2012 Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships July 20-22. Home of the East’s highest ski area, the resort recently developed new bike courses and upgraded lifts to transform itself into a four-season destination including a summer racing series. Riders can also enjoy new trails on the Emerald Outback developed by the town of Beech Mountain.
With more than 3,000 miles of trout streams and 1,100 miles of hatchery-supported trout waters in the mountains alone, North Carolina is a fly fishing haven. It is also the first and only place in the nation with a designated fly fishing trail.
