The Brilliant Child { Mortar and Pestle with Anise Seeds } This work made the room smell intoxicatingly good...like licorice! Using the mortar strengthened the children's handwriting muscles and created crushed anise to be used in the Smelling Bottles on our Sensorial Shelf.

I usually try to put together Montessori lessons or any other activity after my daughters are asleep. I find that once they see me getting into materials, closets, etc., they want to get involved too.
