One of the most suppressed and hidden stories of African and African American history is the story of the 1811 Slave Revolt. Over 500 Africans, from 50 different nations with 50 different languages, would wage a fight against U.S. troops and the territorial militias. The revolt was put down by Jan. 11. The leaders were captured, placed on trial and later executed. Their heads were cut off and placed on spikes that stretched over 60 miles. People who don't read history books are unaware that a huge number of "cowboys" driving herds to the railheads in Kansas were Indians. And many don't know that some of "Indians" who raided the drives for beef in the the "nations" were runaway slaves and ex-slaves adopted into the tribes in the Oklahoma territory. In the Cherokee area of North Ga., Dathie, was captured in the woods and sold into Slavery at Louisville, Ga. to Nathan Haines as a personal Slave to his granddaughter. She had four children during Slavery by her owner, James Haines who gave Dathie and her children 600 acres of land after Slavery.
