Graves of a Catholic woman and her Protestant husband, who were not allowed to be buried together. Roermond, NL, 1888

Graves of a Catholic woman and her Protestant husband, who were not allowed to be buried together. Roermond, NL, 1888 Kind of pathetic and sweet. They should have purchased grave lots at a municipal cemetery.

Sweet graves of couple not allowed to be buried together. She was catholic nobility, he was Protestant commoner. Married 38 years, when he died, he was buried against wall in Protestant side of cemetery. She decided to be buried right next to him on Catholic side rather than her family tomb. The clasping hands connect them for eternity. Click on pic for story
