Make new art out of old pictures
You can find all sorts of pictures that are just waiting for you at flea markets or in second-hand shops. Choose sizes or shapes that appeal to you and go wild with paint and imagination! By painting all the way onto the frame, you can modify all the pictures to match. What will you paint?

Make a papier-mâché lampshade
We made a lampshade using a balloon, but you could also use the back of a bowl. The advantage of a balloon is that it’s easier to vary the size. Paint and decorate the lamp to suit your style.

Make an object shelf with papier-mâché
We made a small object shelf using paper packaging and toilet paper rolls which we saved from the recycling bin. Tape together a shape that you like and begin working with the papier-mâché mixture. It is delightfully messy and produces a sustainable result.

Spray paint vases and flea market finds
Do you have vases with a nice shape, but you don’t like the colour? Maybe you found something at a flea market? Most materials can be spray painted, which means you can give them a second chance. The important thing is to clean them first to get rid of any grease and residues. But thorough priming is also key. We’ve made a step-by-step list for how to upcycle by spray-painting vases and flea market finds.

Decorate a mirror frame with papier-mâché
Here, we’ve updated a mirror using papier-mâché. Create a straight shape or a vivid organic design. Build up a frame using odds and ends from around your home. Attach with paper tape. Decorate your finished work with paint or by gluing on pretty details.

Decorate with mirror mosaics
Use mirror mosaics to create deluxe disco style for your home or a party! This amazing decoration material is like a roll of disco-inspired style. So start searching for an old globe at a flea market and give it new life as the shimmering centrepiece at your party – a sparkling disco ball! Add other shiny disco decorations like a cool disco egg and a funky disco mushroom. Then arrange your disco objects somewhere that they can reflect their incredible light and spread a sparkling shimmer around the room!

Upcycle flea market finds using papier-mâché
We started with a few flea market finds and made a bowl and a glass. Use leftover crafting materials or everyday objects, such as milk caps, scrap paper and toilet paper rolls to build up the right shape. Use a hot glue gun to glue all the pieces together. To keep your objects watertight, do not apply papier-mâché to the inside. This way, you can use your finished project as a vase or flower pot, but be careful to keep the exterior dry. Paint or decorate however you like!

Transform a glass jar with papier-mâché
Take the chance to reuse items that would have otherwise ended up in the recycling or rubbish and turn them into something new. We chose to decorate a glass jar. Using papier-mâché and tissue paper, we transformed an ordinary jar into a vase. The result is gorgeous!

How to paint glass
Decorate drinking glasses with realistic flowers using glass pens and glass paint. Build up the design in multiple layers, creating a natural 3D effect. Start with what is seen from the inside, like the pistils in the centre. Then work your way out by painting flower petals, and continuing with the green outer leaves. Let each layer dry completely before you continue. Harden the glass according to the instructions on the package. Remember to only paint the outside of the glass.

Transform dishes into new interior design pieces
Do you have old bowls and dishes that you’re tired of? Then turn them into decorative objects using No Limit spray paint and Limitless acrylic markers. Keep in mind: the spray paint and markers are not food-safe and can only be used for decoration. For example, your beautifully painted porcelain objects can be perfect for storing jewellery.

Paint a vase with glass paint
Upcycling is our favourite way to get crafty. There are so many beautiful items to remake and update. Here, we’ve made a glass vase for the Easter tree, but you could also use it year round. We used a brush with thicker bristles to create distinct stripes in the paint. Remember that if you want to be able to wash your vase, the glass has to be cured in the oven. So do not use crystal or so-called Duralex glass, which can’t be baked in the oven.
